The Government Palace, also called the House of Pizarro or House of Government, is the official residence of the Peruvian President and main seat of the Executive Power of Peru. The facade of the palace is the French inspired neobaroque style, whereas the lateral facade is of neocolonial style (neoplateresca).
It is considered a historical monument and has hosted a large number of distinguished guests such as Francisco Pizarro, the forty viceroys of Peru, liberator Simón Bolívar, Spanish King Juan Carlos I (during his official visit to Peru from November 22 to 26, 1978) and all the presidents in Peru’s democratic period.
One of the tourist attractions taking place every day at noon is the changing of the guard with a band playing different Peruvian melodies.
