This archeological site was the palace, or residence, of the “Curaca” which was the highest local authority linked to the Incan occupation in the Lima Valley. This public building served as product gathering center where theses products were processed and later redistributed. As in that point of time, everything that happened was framed in a ceremonial calendar; a part of this building was dedicated to religious activities.
Puruchuco is surrounded by a high wall with a single access that gives them strength to the design and safety to all that is inside. Puruchuco comes from the Quechua means "plumed helmet" or "plumed hat."
